A Journey
There is a ton of things that can happen to a person in a lifetime that are life altering. I mean think about it, you decide to go to college and it redirects your path. You decide to quit your job to find a new one, that will redirect it as well. There are very few stable things that will or should never change, they are family, friends, and your sports teams. I know it sounds funny, but bear with me here. more »

Giving Thanks
This is the first of two favorite times of the year. We have to give it to the guys from the past, we wouldn't be able to be the way we are today without them. While reading this, really think about what I am saying here. more »

Pens, Bucs, and Stillers
Well, I have been distant recently, but I hope this post will make up for some of it. There has been a lot going on with our teams lately and as my co-authors have been tremendous at voicing their thoughts and opinions, I believe it is my turn to give you a little insight into my head about these happenings. more »

Mr. Jones and Me
Could the Pirates have found a diamond in the rough? Who would have thought that a 28 year old journeyman who has spent the last five years stuck in AAA could produce some excitement in the Steel City. Garrett Jones has done just that!

Understanding the Pirates
Alright. I have had enough. I am sick and tired of hearing about how our organization sucks and we aren't going anywhere. I am sick of seeing people write over and over again that we are never going anywhere with these trades. I am tired of hearing that we are getting nothing in return for these players. Maybe this will help ease your minds. more »

That time of year again!
Trade season is amongst us and in typical Pittsburgh fashion, the Pirates started off with a bang. The Pirates traded away their second starting outfielder today when they dealt Nyjer Morgan to the Washington Nationals. Now don't go looking for the nearest ledge to jump off of, these moves make sense. more »

Winning will erase these memories
As the up and down Pirates continue on their journey to hopefully their first winning season in 17 years, the question on whether or not this team can do it, boils down to a waiting game. The Pirates lost 2 of 3 games to the Twins and lost their first g… more »

City of Champions
Now, the past couple years, our dear city has had a ton of success in terms of sports teams and events. We now have two Superbowl wins, two Stanley Cup Finals appearances and a Stanley Cup Victory. The Pirates are finally on a rise, however small, it is still just that, a rise. Pitt is always trying to move up, we will see this coming season. We seemed to be poised with some great success for years to come. That is why we claimed the name, the City of Champions more »

Pirates split series with win....Next up Detroit
The Pirates struggled offensively for 8 innings, accounting for only 2 hits and 12 strikeouts, but then Braves pitcher Javier Vasquez left the game. Rafael Soriano entered the game in the 9th inning and the Pirates got three hits, added two runs, and left Atlanta with a series split. The Pirates also were able to do something they haven’t done in 323 straight plate appearances…hit a home run! more »

Morton lasts one inning, but Pirates Victorious
Charlie Morton started his first game with the Pirates and wanted nothing more the avenge the team that traded him a week prior, but his night came to an abrupt halt...an inning into the game. After the first inning, Morton had to be taken out of the game due to a tight right hamstring. The man whose spot he took in the starting rotation, Jeff Karstens, came into the game to save the day. With all the twists and turns the Pirates had to deal with in the beginning, the result was sweet. The Pirates held on to defeat the Braves 3-2 Wednesday night, finally getting the breaks to go their way. more »

First Smart Pirate Move in 17 years
The Pittsburgh Pirates did what?!?! They traded Nate McLouth to the Atlanta Braves for nothing?!?! This is just another salary dump!!! Bob Nutting is at it again!!! WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?!?! These are just some of the comments that were made, and continue to be made by fans, media, and players of the Pirates after the trade was announced that sent Nate McLouth to the Atlanta Braves in return for 3 top level prospects. I am here to tell you that this was absolutely, without a doubt, the first smart move that the Pittsburgh Pirates front office has made in the last 17 years. more »

Today's Draft will Explain A Lot
Did the Pirates trade McClouth to be able spend top dollars in the draft and to help sign Miguel Sano? Will the Pirates select yet another pitcher in this draft, hoping to break a string of first round busts? Will the Pirates sacrifice talent and sign a cheap prospect in the first round? These are just a few of the questions circling around the Pirates today as they get ready for today's draft. This draft can go so many directions, I am going crazy at the different scenarios! more »

Pirates lose marathon, but look good during race
How long would it take you to run a marathon? It would take me about a week, that includes stops to smoke, use the restroom, grab a bite to eat...well you get the point. Last night, it took the Pirates 4 hours and 46 minutes. In what seemed like a game that could go on into the night, the Pirates finally fell to the Braves 7-6 in fifteen innings. Even though you might be frustrated with this result. The Pirates actually played a great game despite the outcome. Unfortunately they just need a little more time in the gym to be able to finish off a marathon. more »

Hampton Shuts Down Buccos....AGAIN!
If Mike Hampton could pitch against the Pirates on every outing, he would be considered a candidate for the Cy Young. The Astros starting pitcher limited the Pirates offense to one run on five hits in seven innings pitched. This is the second time in a week that Hampton has baffled Pirate hitters and limited them to one run. The Pirates struggled on all levels of the game Friday afternoon, falling to the last place Astros. more »

McCutchen Shines...Pirates win with small ball!
Andrew McCutchen made his anticipated debut this afternoon for the Pirates and stole the show. McCutchen went 2-4 with a RBI, 3 runs scored, 1 walk, and 1 stolen base, hitting from the lead off spot. The type of offensive output that has been predicted… more »

Bad Moves Keep On Risin!
Today I woke up still in disbelief that the Pirates traded away a key component to their success, let alone my favorite player. Nate McClouth, an All Star oufielder who earned a gold glove for his play defensively and the main source of power in the Pir… more »
