The Drop of The Puck

Here We Go! We are all sitting around now, awaiting the unparalleled sound of the first dropping puck at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit. The sounds of the game are magical, as in all sports. I know when I played soccer for while in school, way back when, I just loved going to the field. I even loved practice. I would show up at least a half hour early. I love the smell, the sights, and the feel. I imagine that hockey players go through the same things, this time, for these two teams, it is a bit more intense feeling. more »

Meaningless Statistics

After three days of constant rambling about how the Penguins were right where the Canes wanted them after winning game one, we finally saw how much those numbers meant. I will give it to Carolina though, they fought back hard, but it just wasn't enough when the opponent can roll four lines and be a threat with all of them. I am sure they will get a significant boost when they finally get a home game, but consider this, the past five series, when they went home, they weren't down 2-0, they were tied 1-1 and had momentum. We have that advantage this time. It looks like that last days jump to fourth place when the Flyers and the Canes faltered is making a difference in the third round. more »

Hockey and Mullets

What is better than watching your favorite hockey team destroy a great opponent in a game seven? Watching your favorite hockey team destroy a great opponent in a game seven right behind a perfect mullet wearing a old school Rick Tocchet sweater. That made it a hockey game, that made it great! more »

This Is It.

This is it. The biggest game of the playoffs. Now, I could sit here in my Lazy Boy and whine and complain about game six, just as the Capitals do about every loss, but the truth of the matter is that we lost. No matter how many dives I saw by opposing players, weird penalties taken on both sides, or non calls that weren't made, we still lost the game and a chance to close it out. However, now we are at the part of this series that everyone has been praying for. A game seven for the rights to go to the conference finals. It will be a game that will be talked about in Penguins history as one of the best in one of the best series. I want to say I know who will win. I know in my heart who will win, but my heart apparently doesn't score the goals for my favorite team. more »

Destiny...or Not?

Well, it is looking more and more like I am going to have to swallow my pride a bit and say it won't end in six! I don't like how this ended up, of course, but you can look at history, I hate to say it comes to this, and the last two times we have been down two games to none to Washington we have won. The other part of history you have to look at is that the last two times we were down two games to none, we lost that given series. That doesn't bode well right now. Now, our favorite professional hockey team is staring down the throat of a big decision. Are they ready to turn the corner and become the team of destiny that we all believe they are and win this series, or are they just like last year's...not quite ready yet. more »

Lineups?

So, I was looking at the line arrangements and some possible matchup in the series that starts Saturday at 1 PM on NBC, unfortunately. The reason I say unfortunately is because it is on NBC. Now, I don't mind their coverage, but I don't like the fact that they won't let us watch the games on the outside screen. I believe it would be different if the team truly made money off of it, but they don't. It is free for the fans, and I think it is a great idea. Anywho, back to the lineups... more »

The Dream Matchup!

Well, we are now all getting ready for a big playoff matchup between our Pittsburgh Penguins and the Washington Capitals. It was a surprising matchup because in order for this to happens, the Hurricanes had to win and the Capitals had to win their game sevens. The part I was surprised about wasn't as much the Caps, but the Canes. They were down 3-2 with 90 seconds left. They scored two quick goals to win the series and forcing the matchup. I am sure Gary Bettman is ecstatic, he has been hoping for this for years now! more »

Big Games

Tonight will be the night we will find out who we are playing in the first round of the playoffs. The Caps are playing the Rangers at home, which doesn't mean much this post season and the Devils are hosting the Canes. I know one game already started and the other starts in like 15 minutes, but I am going to tell you who is going to win. more »
