Oh, What a Night! #Steelers or #Pitt?

Tomorrow is Thursday. It is a big night for some, another night, for others. The questions is, what should we watch? Do we watch Pitt football? They are facing Utah in Utah. This could be the first of many victories for Pitt this season. They are coming in ranked #15. I hope that means something. Or should we watch the last preseason Steeler game? Who starts at quarterback? Will they get it together? Will they live up to Sports Illustrated's Peter King and win the Super Bowl this year? Will this be the start the Steelers need to succeed?

...

Let's look at the Pitt game. It is my pick for sure out of the two. Pitt hasn't been ranked this high to start the season in years. This is Dave Wannstedt's team. He recruited these guys. This is his big shot. I think this season and maybe the next will make or break him. He must succeed in order to keep working at Pitt. When I say succeed, it doesn't necessarily mean National Championship. It just means, to me at least, a contender.

Another reason to watch Pitt is Dion Lewis. Period. Need I say more? I guess I can. He received votes for the Heisman Trophy last year. There are many people saying that he will win it this year, barring injury. One of his biggest competitions for this award just went down and will miss the first game of the season in Alabama in Mark Ingram. I think that Pitt has a very good team this year and any game you get a chance to watch, you need to watch.

Yeah, Peter King Jinxed us. I hope not though. Who on Earth picked us this year? I hope he is a genius, but I know we play better as underdogs. The Steelers are in the final preseason game and there are still a ton of question marks. Who starts in Ben Roethlisberger's stead? Who starts opposite Ike Taylor? Will our beloved rookie center Maurkice Pouncey start? Who gets the fourth wide receiver position? Will Dan Sepulveda kickoff or will Jeff Reed? I think the only things that aren't a question mark is the starting running back, the offensive and defensive lines, and most of the special teams.

I see Byron Leftwich taking the reins and being forced to manage the game. Just like Ben did in his rookie year. We don't want him to have to win a game in Ben's absence. We are playing some weaker teams until week four and I would love to see at least a 3-1 record when Ben returns. I think that will put far less pressure on him to come out and put the team on his shoulders right away. It would definitely help the team. I will put this to rest, with the help of the rest of the line, I see Pouncey starting. It makes sense and he is a very smart guy. He is going to make mistakes, but it will be worth it in the end. Let me start off by saying that the first, second and third WR positions go to Hines Ward, Mike Wallace, and Antwaan Randle El. As far as the fourth, I think Arnaz Battle claims it just because of his experience. That's just my opinion though. Sepulveda or Reed? I like Sepulveda's kicks, but I like his tackling more. I think if there is a return, I would much rather have Dan as our last line of defense. I believe that is a no brainer. He has more of an upside there.

I see all these interesting battles, and I would love to watch the game, but Pitt is playing and it is preseason. Maybe I will watch it at a sports bar where they have both on at the same time! That's the ticket! Maybe I will hit up the Hula Bar in Verona.
